The Scottish Cup Gallery

The Scottish Cup Gallery

Scottish Football Museum, Glasgow

Exhibition design and build for the new Scottish Cup Gallery within the Scottish Football Museum at Hampden Park, Glasgow, to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Scottish Cup.

As the oldest national football trophy in the world, the Scottish Cup is an iconic object linking generations of players and supporters over the last century and a half. The Scottish Cup takes pride of place in a newly refurbished display case with bespoke lighting. A high-level timeline presents the story of the winning teams over the last 150 years with space to update and add new content in future years. Large-scale graphic treatments use dynamic footballing images to create visual impact and chart the changes over the decades. The gallery aims to engage families and inter-generational visitors as well as football fans, and integrates film and digital content with layered graphics presenting social and historical events in Scotland’s history which put the Scottish Cup into context.

Large scale cutouts of the Scottish Cup flank the entrance to the gallery.

The existing display case for the Scottish Cup was refurbished and new lighting introduced to create a focal point in the gallery.

Studioarc worked collaboratively, bringing enthusiasm and passion to the project. They listened to our ideas and developed them to deliver the best possible design, presenting options and outlining impacts. We are thrilled with our new gallery – it is above and beyond what we envisioned.
